Boxing Day Bonus

I treated myself to a little yarn surprise as I really can’t 100% count on my family to sustain my yarn habit. This year my kids picked out beige towels and a bath mat. Perfectly lovely but not exactly crafy.

I snagged a skein of Chromatic yarns in Sturdy Sock called True Sight. Also a cute little puppy hand beaded stitch marker. Hannah also throws in a bag of bird and blend tea. This one was a fruit and custard herbal tea.

Zero clue what I will do with this yarn and so it will go into my Chromatic Yarns every growing stash. I feel like making another variegated shawl in this year. I have lots of blues and greens along this color scheme that would blend well. Maybe after I lose my mitred square blanket mojo?

COVID Consolation Prize

Our family finally got caught by COVID. Three out of the four of us tested positive. The hubby and I went on our first real dinner and movie date in two years and came home with COVID. Pretty poetic, right?

We spent all of last week laying low and staying home. We are on the mend but PB can’t go back to daycare for another week yet. It’s been hard, trying to work my busy season from home and keeping two kids in good spirits. So I purchased myself a consolation prize….some Chromatic Yarns/Corner of Craft goodies.

I picked up a sock set in her her Naiad colorway and a beaded unicorn stitch marker. The sock yarn is BFL/nylon mix and I envision it will be socks some day. I have already put my stitch marker on my current Stark Effect Socks.

Woolfest 2018

This past weekend I bundled up in the mom van with my mother and my Aunt and we trooped to Wamego to Woolfest 2018! It was Wool Power this year with a lovely Wonder Woman theme running throughout.

It was a nice morning out and about without Jellybean in tow. I was able to peruse the yarn and inhale all the woolly goodness. I didn’t remember to take any photos while were there. It was just nice to spend time with my mom and pick out some goodies.

Speaking of goodies….here they are!

I was better prepared this time. I had planned ahead, set a budget and had specific projects in mind. I wanted yarn for a Knitting at the Library Cowl, Baby Vertebrae, Half Theory Hat, and a Girl at the Grocery shawl. I found yarn for everything but the shawl. I just didn’t find anything that spoke to me and honestly I do have some stash yarn for that shawl that would work.

I did manage to stay within my budget and go home with a little cash. But some of that was because my mother stepped in and bought some of my yarn. I got a new to me dyer Apothefaery Fabrications in her Delightful DK base in a speckle green color for the Baby Vertebrae. I purchased a stitch marker set from Th’Red Head Yarns and its a sheepy themed set. My mother got a BB-8 themed bag from Aunt Stephs Handmade Gifts. She thought Jellybean would like that. My one “just because” purchase was some Knitty Bits 2 sock yarn from Two Windows Dye company in a yellow stripey colors plus some assorted minis for my scrap blanket. And last but not least I hit up a favorite yarn dyer, the TreasureGoddess yarns. I picked up DK treasure skein in Song of the Siren for the Half Theory hat and a gradient set in greys in the Cashmere Super Toes base for the Knitting at the Library Cowl. They even through in some pirate sheep can koozies with our purchase.

The festival was well attended and I was very happy with all my purchases. And it was nice to spend the day with my family doing non-mom things. Now with all this new yarn….I need to get knitting!!

Happy Knitting!!
